'Bowenwork' - the original Bowen Technique

About Me

A Photo of Isobel Knight I became interested in Bowen when most other physical therapies had failed to help my chronic back pain. Bowen gave me significant relief and I was impressed by the subtleties of the approach.

I studied for my Diploma under the Bowen Academy of Australia (Bowtech) and I also have the ITEC Anatomy and Physiology Diploma, qualifying in 2003.

I am a full member of the Bowen Practitioners associated with the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia and the UK Association, and was a committee member in 2005.

I have Professional Membership Hypermobility Association and the London & SE Hypermobility Club,(an academic group, led by Professor Rodney Grahame), the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and Dance UK. I also have a full Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

I have a particular interest in treating chronic fatigue and chronic pain, back pain, dancers' injuries, women's health complaints and symptoms related to having Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. I am also quite willing to work with patients whose injuries have not responded well to other therapies in the past, or to whom I am the 'last resort'.I have a particular interest in treating chronic fatigue and chronic pain, back pain, dancers' injuries, women's health complaints and symptoms related to having Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. I am also quite willing to work with patients whose injuries have not responded well to other therapies in the past, or to whom I am the 'last resort'.

I am also very interested in working with dancers, especially classical ballet dancers, and the acute injuries sustained by dancers. I have now completed an MSc in Dance Science at Laban which will mean that I have expertise in working with and supporting dancers who have become injured. I amteaching adult ballet classes at the Albrighton Community Centre in East Dulwich.

I am internationally published author on Joint Hypermobility Syndrome and have my second book is due out in 2013, with a book on Bowen being planned for 2013.

I have written a number of articles about the Bowen Technique, and have had several published including one by the The British Medical Journal. I have also had articles published about me in the Cambridge Explorer Magazine and The Dancing Times.

I am now lecturing in the UK and Internationally on the topics of both Bowen and Hypermobility Syndrome and have given lectures in a range of places including at Trinity Laban, Tring Ballet School, Royal Academy of Dance. I am going to present a lecture and workshops on Bowen at the 2012 Hypermobility Syndrome Association Residential weekend in September 2012 and at the International Bowen Conference in Italy in September 2012.
